Vintage Tea Party Bridal Shower…

My wonderful friend, Nancy Park of So Happi Together, recently sent over these images from her bride Dina’s bridal shower. With the help of friends and family, Dina planned her beautiful tea party bridal shower down to the last detail. Love was poured into each and every element, and it really shows!

More from Dina:

I wanted to have a very vintage tea party feel, without making it into an Alice In Wonderland tea party. We called the shower “bubbly and brunch with the bride” and even the invites were hand made with a vintage fabric and a doily placed on the outside. Each was hand-tied with twine and stamped with vintage stamps. I wanted my guests to know they were coming to a vintage tea party.

I was really involved in my own shower, which some friends thought was crazy! I work in the fashion industry and throw a lot of events for a living. I am a bit of a control freak, and I knew that I had to be involved in my shower which I wanted to make sure was special for the people coming. I had guests fly in from around the country, and drive in from all areas of California. I treated it as a party for them, as much as it was for me.

I love burlap and created place mats from yards of burlap that I purchased in the downtown garment district. To add a touch of fancy and romance we cut the floral motifs out of a large piece of lace that I purchased in downtown LA as well. I loved the contrast between the rough burlap and the soft romantic lace. I also used a lace I picked up at a consignment shop to create the “bubbly & brunch” banner. For that banner, I printed large letters on regular paper and my amazing fiance used an exacto knife to cut the letters out. I sponge painted each letter on the burlap. I found the idea for the banner from an etsy vendor, and I made it a DIY project.

I hand stamped the cotton muslin bags that were on each guests place setting with a cute floral stamp I picked up at Michaels. To make sure they looked like normal flowers, I actually used markers and colored the stems green, and the flower portion pink or purple. It took a bit of time, but I loved the end result. Inside we used these adorable glass corked jars which the guests used at our custom oil station.

I had collected vintage plates, cups, cake stands, and tea pots for months and months before my shower. To create dimension on the table, and make plates into cake stands, I purchased small candle pillars and glued them to the bottoms of the plates and painted them with an antique white. I also remembered that my grandmother (who has passed) had a beautiful collection of china. I used her tea cups, plates, and saucers in my table as well, which pulled it together beautifully.

I’m lucky to have amazing friends and family who are super creative. My brother in law Alex is a chef, and has an amazing eye for style. He and I did all of the flowers together, and he actually cooked ALL of the food we served that day. From fresh cream puffs, to lemon tarts, to breakfast quiches, to gourmet panini’s that he prepared as guests were arriving to serve them hot and toasty.

I went to the flower mart in LA the morning before my party and picked out all my flowers. I was SO glad that the flower mart had peonies! That is my favorite flower (i’m sure it’s everyones!) and I really had my heart set on getting them. I added other flower like stock, ranunculas, hydrangea, dahlias, and dusty miller, and a few varities of soft greens to give the table a very frenchy, garden, soft feel. We used the tea cups and tea pots to display the flowers. We also built cute little topiary plants to place down the length of the table.

I was really determined to make the table the focus of the event and fill it with so many goodies that my guests eyes would be drawn to each and every plate, and delicious dessert.

Dina sent these additional photos over, they are so cute, I just had to include them! I’m loving her outfit choice. Super cute!
