Esther and Charlie’s backyard wedding, captured by Bridget McEnaney Photography, was a total labor of love. A tight budget didn’t stop Esther from creating the wedding of her dreams, with every last detail planned to perfection. I adore the multi-colored bridesmaid dresses and the beautiful place settings! Here’s a bit more from the bride, Esther:
“My tactical approach to pulling-off this blessed event was a combination of writing a thesis and plotting an inter-planetary takeover. I researched every possible detail to exhaustion, took a lot of notes, cross-referenced sources and set up a command post with numerous organizational features. I watched every wedding show – every episode – and took note of what I liked about their weddings and what I didn’t like. I devoured magazines and wedding blogs and design blogs and DIY blogs until the morning of the wedding. My primary focus in planning our wedding was to effectively edit all of my ideas down to a cohesive design scheme that felt true to us as a couple and achieved a specific design aesthetic as well as conveying an overall relaxed and honest feel.”
A bit more from Esther:
“Several months prior to our May wedding we were secretly married at the courthouse; it helped with the wedding jitters on the day of our big ceremony, and it was really special to have a chance to say our vows alone to each other. It more than replaced the impossible “moment away” in the midst of wedding day madness and I would highly recommend it!
Planning was a complete whirlwind and the end result definitely reflected the journey. Things went wrong, timing got skewed, and we found a bunch of hidden cake pops the next day… If I could go back and change anything I would definitely hire a day-of-coordinator so that I could relax a little. It was just physically impossible for me to get all the details just right (I’m a little OCD as it is) and I was a hot mess by the time I got to the hotel to get ready. That said, even though everything wasn’t perfect it was still great and I am eternally grateful to all of my friends and family for pitching in and helping out – they were all amazing and I couldn’t have done it without them. I bet nobody even noticed that I didn’t have time to make a croquembouche… ha.”

Happy Friday, lovelies! So, the shoot I have to share with you today isn’t technically a boudoir session, but I think it provides some great inspiration for all you ladies looking to do a boudoir session. It was sent over by Allison of Studio 28 Photo, and is cute, cute, cute! Here’s what Allison had to say about the inspiration behind this shoot:
“The inspiration was a girl at the laundry mat Sunday morning. After a long night out she grabbed a bottle of bubbly, some donuts, and set off to the laundry. That carefree, don’t care girl we all wanna be, drinking champagne and playing cards at the Fluff & Fold.”
I love the striped socks, pink champagne, doughnuts and laundry theme. You could pull off a similar shoot in your own laundry room! Sexy homemaker, anyone?

Who doesn’t daydream of their childhood, getting all nostalgic at the memory of their favorite games and adventures? I know I sure do! So do Jean and Ryan, who wanted to do a love shoot that revisited a time in their lives when they frolicked about and daydreamed without a care in the world. To make things even more special, this shoot took place on Jean’s birthday! Jen, of Jen May Photography, was there to capture all the fun.

This chic Palm Springs affair was sent over by Sara of onelove photography, and it’s a real gem! Michelle and Brian wanted to put their personal stamp on their wedding day by infusing elements from both of their cultures. Michelle’s Chinese background was displayed through their wedding color, red, which is lucky in Chinese culture. They also consulted a Chinese fortune teller to help find the most fortuitous date to get married! As a nod to Brian’s Jewish heritage, they danced the Horah at the end of the night. I adore the way they expressed themselves as a couple, and the gorgeous details they chose to include in their day. That red and white striped tent at the reception? Hello, amazing!

Today I have an awesome wedding full of handmade details to share with you, sent over by Matt of Our Labor of Love! Dorothy and Sam were married at a beautiful venue in Georgia, Kellum Valley Farm, which is complete with ruins resulting from a 1923 fire on the property. Dorothy crafted much of the charming decor used to adorn the reception herself, and even sewed her own wedding dress! I love that they included their beloved cars in many of the photos. Sam’s is a 1957 Y-Block Ford Ranch Wagon, and Dorothy’s is a 1960 Metropolitan, named Mona:)
Dorothy and Sam’s wedding invitation, by Smokey Road Press, is so rad! Love this animated image Matt put together to show it off.

Susan and Dirk’s striped seaside wedding, captured by Charmaine Spangenberg Photography, is heavy on the cute! Sweet modern stationery, designed by the bride herself, takes center stage at the reception. The bold graphic table runners adorned with red and white stripes, and fun graphics are so creative! The pops of aqua throughout, including that rad VW bus, really help bring this playful celebration together!

I love all things whimsical, I love a good woodland setting that evokes images of fairytale princesses and talking animals, and I love an awesome boudoir session. Needless to say, I’m a pretty big fan of this shoot by Denise of Modern Love Photography. Beautiful girl, beautiful setting, beautiful images- a total boudoir win!
