Today I have an absolutely gorgeous wedding for you, sent over by the awesome Heidi of Heidi Ryder Photography, via Two Bright Lights! Here are some details about the day from Heidi…
Judy and Tom planned a modern wedding with rustic flair that was held in a walnut grove in Southern California. While the words “modern” and “rustic” don’t usually go together, Judy and Tom managed to pair both aesthetics extremely well with cute details like a dictionary guest book and an adorable lemonade stand. Their pink and grey color palette kept things clean and romantic and the walnut grove setting helped tie everything together beautifully.

It’s the beginning of a new week, and I have the perfect wedding to kick your Monday off to a great start! Teddie + Lindia’s romantic travel themed wedding was sent over by Jeremy Chou Photoworks, who did an awesome job capturing the day. The beautiful design, created by my dear friend Miss Tashina, was inspired by their love of travel. Vintage maps, globes and suitcases adorned the reception, and I particularly love the paper globe seating chart. So cute and creative!

Happy Tuesday, lovelies! Are you ready for a beautiful wedding absolutely drenched in dreamy romance? Then today is your lucky day! I have a real gem to share with you, sent over by my sweet friend Abi of Abi Q Photography. Brady and Natalie were married in Arizona with a backdrop of adobe and catci (I heart catci). I am always a sucker for blush florals, but the pops of red in Natalie’s bridesmaid bouquets are fantastic! As you know from my petal, ruby + gold post last week, I’m a big fan of pairing pale pink and red!

So, Mondays are usually pretty sucky, right? Today however is absolutely glorious! What makes this Monday different, you ask? Well, first of all, today is the second anniversary of the day I married the best dude around, yay!!! The second reason is that I get to share Jacob + Janelle’s awesome Cape Cod wedding, shot by Matt Miller + Megan MicInnis for Our Labor of Love, with you! One of my very best friends was a guest at this wedding, and I’ve been hearing about how fantastic it was for awhile, so I’m really excited to feature it here. Let’s just say it lived up to the hype. I’m sure you will agree!
More from the bride, Janelle:
Our theme was a perfect Cape Cod day/night. We used a variety of items from our own personal collections like the vintage chalkboard, buoys, etc. My sister selected a variety of interesting pieces from Mad Props, Boston. We executed everything ourselves with the help of friends and family. We used a chalkboard I bought a flea market to write our seating chart on. We spent a few days and assembled a variety of playlists for certain times during the evening. It was an eclectic mix, but not too obscure. Most importantly it eliminated the potential of a horrible sitcom-esque DJ disaster.
The vintage test tube rack was something we knew we wanted to use from our own home.
The glass bottle used as center pieces on the tables were all found objects from our own backyard. We have been renovating our home for a number of years, and it’s been a huge part of our lives during that time. Since they were all found during that process, it meant a lot to us to include them.
The signature cocktail was a bloody mary, Janelle’s favorite!
The decorations included a mix of tissue paper balls and handmade tissue paper tassels.
If you want to see more, check out their Smilebooth video, put together by Matt Miller. It’s by far one of the best and most fun ones I’ve seen!

I’m so excited to start the week off with Thao + Theresa’s awesome wedding, captured by Hello Studios! It’s more fun than a barrel of monkeys, and has a fresh and modern design that I adore. I’m a sucker for grey and yellow, but the bright greenish-yellow incorporated into this wedding makes for a unique take on the color scheme. Love, love, love it!

Esther and Charlie’s backyard wedding, captured by Bridget McEnaney Photography, was a total labor of love. A tight budget didn’t stop Esther from creating the wedding of her dreams, with every last detail planned to perfection. I adore the multi-colored bridesmaid dresses and the beautiful place settings! Here’s a bit more from the bride, Esther:
“My tactical approach to pulling-off this blessed event was a combination of writing a thesis and plotting an inter-planetary takeover. I researched every possible detail to exhaustion, took a lot of notes, cross-referenced sources and set up a command post with numerous organizational features. I watched every wedding show – every episode – and took note of what I liked about their weddings and what I didn’t like. I devoured magazines and wedding blogs and design blogs and DIY blogs until the morning of the wedding. My primary focus in planning our wedding was to effectively edit all of my ideas down to a cohesive design scheme that felt true to us as a couple and achieved a specific design aesthetic as well as conveying an overall relaxed and honest feel.”
A bit more from Esther:
“Several months prior to our May wedding we were secretly married at the courthouse; it helped with the wedding jitters on the day of our big ceremony, and it was really special to have a chance to say our vows alone to each other. It more than replaced the impossible “moment away” in the midst of wedding day madness and I would highly recommend it!
Planning was a complete whirlwind and the end result definitely reflected the journey. Things went wrong, timing got skewed, and we found a bunch of hidden cake pops the next day… If I could go back and change anything I would definitely hire a day-of-coordinator so that I could relax a little. It was just physically impossible for me to get all the details just right (I’m a little OCD as it is) and I was a hot mess by the time I got to the hotel to get ready. That said, even though everything wasn’t perfect it was still great and I am eternally grateful to all of my friends and family for pitching in and helping out – they were all amazing and I couldn’t have done it without them. I bet nobody even noticed that I didn’t have time to make a croquembouche… ha.”
