Whitney + Rob’s Simply Sweet Day After Session…

I absolutely love the sweet simplicity of Whitney + Rob’s day after session, captured by the always wonderful Amber of Live It Out Photography. There is a peace and serenity that comes through in these images, and I just can’t stop looking at them! Whitney’s beautiful dress is from the BHLDN collection, and her veil, which I think is the bees knees, is by Twigs & Honey.

A bit more about this shoot, from their photographer Amber:

Whitney and Rob wanted this shoot to capture the simplicity of their long-distance beginning, so we avoided props and chose minimalistic (but meaningful and tender) settings; their front porch (with their next door neighbor’s cat peeking through the front door) and a few local places (an overgrown field and a dilapidated building.) In the end, we wanted to beautify tired, forgotten (some might think, ugly) places with Whitney + Rob’s life and love and spark. Just two newlywed kids and their love and this old, sleepy town.

Katie + Matt’s Artistic Love Shoot…

We are starting the week off right with Katie and Matt’s artistic love shoot, sent over by the awesome Jenny Haas! Katie and Matt are both talented artists, and met when Matt was tattooing Katie. Since they both have such a passion for art, they included a little painting session in their shoot, along with lots of fun and dancing. This couple is so, so adorable! I just love them!!!

If you are as tickled by Katie’s adorable style as I am, you can see more by checking out her blog, Katie’s Pencil Box!

Dollhouse Proposal…

I’ve never featured a proposal before, so I am super excited about what I have for you today!!! An adorable surprise proposal caught on film at the Wildflowers Photography workshop.

Here’s the sweet story of how it all came together, from Joy Harmon Prouty of Wildflowers Photography:

The idea all started with the dollhouse – I bought an old one and my 4 year old and I gave it an anthropologie-inspired make-over using a lot of buttons, lace and re-done old vintage furniture. Then we brought it to life with the couple, the real-life “dolls” – Kayla & Shane. Kayla and shane, just dating at the time, came over to my house a few days before my “a wildflowers workshop” to talk details about being my models in my planned dollhouse shoot at the workshop! I showed them the anthropologie inspired dollhouse that my Gracie and I had been making furniture and lamps for, and decorating for days on end for the shoot. We planned the clothes as they were to be the little dolls come-to-life in a life size version of the dollhouse, we talked about the location which would be in front of a painted canvas of the dollhouse there at the workshop venue in Julian, Ca. We were all giddy, except for a bit of a quiet shane. I’ve known Kayla for years (she used to babysit my kids before she ran off to Hawaii last year and fell in love with this boy), but I guess I had expected this guy I had heard so much about to be a little bit more of a talker. Well, it all made sense to me when he wrote me an email later that night explaining that he had just basically been a bundle of nerves at my house because all he could think about was how he had wanted to ask me if he could propose to Kayla during the photo shoot! I basically started jumping up and down when I read that, and from there we began to plot the big proposal.

So fast forward to the morning of the shoot in Julian… as soon as they arrived, Kayla went into the farmhouse to change clothes and Shane quickly slipped me the ring. We made a little dollhouse chair with a slit in it so that the ring would fit perfectly inside, and my attendees all knew that when I said the code word halfway during the shoot that it was time to place the chair/ring into the dollhouse. Well, the moment finally came, we put on their favorite song, we put the ring in the house and then all stepped back as I prompted Kayla to go over the house and rearrange the furniture for a shot. Well, long story short, she found the ring, she turned around, he got down on one knee and she said YES! Neither one of them nor the rest of all of us weepy ladies could stop grinning after that. It made the photo shoot amazingly special, and I am so honored that shane thought to have it documented in such a cool way!!!

Sam + Leanne’s Love Shoot…

The cute love shoot I have to share with you today was sent over by the wonderful Jamie Delaine! Sam and Leanne are super adorable, and are both dear friends of Jamie. She wrote this about their love story:

“I have a friend named Leanne. She is more dear to me than the entire season of autumn & I am very serious about my love of autumn. I have a friend named Sam. I have grown to become quite fond of this friend named Sam. Leanne likes this boy named Sam… and has for many years. Sam and Leanne were friends for many years. Sam woke up and saw wonderfulness in front of him last winter. This wonderfulness is more commonly known as Leanne Tam.”

So sweet!!!

Daydream Love Shoot…

Who doesn’t daydream of their childhood, getting all nostalgic at the memory of their favorite games and adventures? I know I sure do! So do Jean and Ryan, who wanted to do a love shoot that revisited a time in their lives when they frolicked about and daydreamed without a care in the world. To make things even more special, this shoot took place on Jean’s birthday! Jen, of Jen May Photography, was there to capture all the fun.
