A Handmade Wedding Shoot…

This styled shoot by Paige Newton Photography is full of handmade loveliness! Paige enlisted her friends Holly and Brian Phillips to model, and Holly also assisted with the darling styling of this shoot. I love the folksy ceramic plates and mugs by Leah Duncan, and the rad venue, Vista West Ranch. Plus, who doesn’t love animal mask portraits? They add an extra sprinkle of awesomeness to this already adorable shoot.

An Elegant Vintage Soirée…

Brace yourself for pretty overload! The incredible Nick and Aleah Valley of Valley & Co. recently designed this beautiful photo shoot which incorporates family heirlooms, passed down through generations.

More from Aleah:

We wanted to create a soft, vintage setting perfect for an elegant dinner soirée by using true vintage pieces passed down through our families. The key was to use ruffled and sweet textures against the industrial backdrop, creating such a striking and chic ambiance. We used slightly more modern finishes with our stationery and charcoal and chocolate striped napkins and the dark gray runner to create added interest. Our napkins were topped with Aleah’s Grandmother’s crystal brooches and an orchid bloom.

Since this dynamic duo is brimming over with great tips, I asked Aleah to share some advice on how to incorporate family heirlooms into your big day:

Mixing in sentimental elements passed down from grandparents or parents is so thoughtful and special and really a way to honor your loved ones. We always encourage our couples to think about how they can nod to their family, whether here or not with us. This could mean borrowing Grandma’s favorite brooch to adorn the bride’s bouquet, Grandpa’s pocket watch to polish off the groom’s look, or borrowed hankies from Mom to use at a bridal shower. Think about using special heirloom items as showcase pieces on your dessert table, as your cake topper, or as adornments on your sweetheart table.
