Bree + Andy’s Hip DC Wedding…

Bree and Andy, who you may remember from their incredible vintage engagement session, were married this past November and I’m so excited to share their big day with you!!! Being able to follow a couple from their engagement through their wedding is a true joy, and one of the things I love most about being a blogger!!! I had a feeling that their wedding, captured by Live It Out Photography, was going to be FUN with a capital F-U-N…and let me tell you, my feeling was RIGHT!!! Have a look:)

More from the bride, Bree:

Our wedding was on November 13th in Washington, DC and had a hip, vintage-hipster feel to it. We had a TON of local DC themes and even more DIY in our wedding.

Because we did not do flowers – any decor, centerpieces, etc was made by us/family/friends. We used Christmas Ornaments as a common theme throughout the decor to keep things consistent. We were also able to save money by reusing ceremony decor for cocktail hour decor, and having the centerpieces double as favors!

My mom made the bouquets from tulle and christmas ornament balls, I made christmas ornament pomanders for the church and I made the boutonnieres.

Our ceremony venue was an old church that has no affiliation with it, so it was PERFECT for our mixed tradition ceremony. My parents are religious, we really aren’t … so finding a church that will let you do what you want was IMPOSSIBLE, this was pure luck, but perfect!

Our centerpieces were Christmas balls again, in lotus bowls, but my friend had handmade them into favors. She handmade 80 of these babies, that guests could then take as a favor. We thought ornaments were a great, useful, favor since the wedding was in November!

We made a Photo Book Guest Book station. We really, really wanted a Photobooth – but due to budgeting, we just couldn’t afford it. So instead, we bought an awesome guest book on etsy, bought a Fujifilm Instax camera, printed out directions for our guests, and made felt mustaches for our guests to hold in the pictures! Honestly, I think this came out better than the photobooth – our guest book is HILARIOUS to look at, and guests had a BLAST with the mustaches :)

Andy and I can’t slow dance. So we did a Flash Mob First Dance. We started out doing a choreographed danced to a Weezer song … then our wedding party joined … then cousins … then random friends … even Amber’s husband, Jon, got in! It was AWESOME. We filmed the moves and put it on Youtube, and send the link to everyone. I think that was one of my favorite parts of the night. It came together SO well.

I love Bree + Andy’s wedding video by Tim Alan Smith!!! It’s so much fun, and is clearly a perfect reflection of their awesome wedding.
